Bathroom Remodels

What to Consider When Remodeling your Bathroom?

  • Bathtubs
  • Showers
  • Sinks
  • Lighting
  • Toilets
  • Cabinets

Bathrooms are one of the most frequently remodeled areas in the house, and for a good reason – the average person spends over 180 hours a year in the bathroom. Nobody wants to be stuck with an unattractive or unpleasant bathroom, making sure it is an enjoyable space. It is vital for having a comfortable home.

Not sure where to start?

At EJB Home Improvements, we have over 30 years of experience with stylish and modern home remodeling, including bathrooms. We will work with you to help you design the sleek, contemporary bathroom of your dreams, and our skilled and efficient craftsmen will get down to business, turning that dream into a reality. From fixtures to storage, we will help you every step of the way. Here is a little information for you to consider when planning your next bathroom remodel.

How Much Will My Bathroom Remodel Cost?

As you might imagine, the cost of a remodeling project can vary drastically depending on the size of the space and the materials you want to use. The average cost of a bathroom remodel nationwide is between $10,000 and $15,000, although the prices here in South Florida are usually a little lower than that. Regardless, that price is going to depend heavily on what you want your bathroom to look like, as well as how large the room is. A small bathroom or guest bathroom can be as cheap as $5,000, but for a large master bathroom of over 100 square feet, that can jump up to $30,000, so there is quite a bit of variety. At EJB Home Improvements, we offer free estimates on any projects, so feel free to give us a call and discuss your bathroom remodel. We will provide you with an estimate and even make some recommendations for staging if you let us take a look at the space.

How Long Does a Bathroom Remodel Take?

This can also vary depending on the size of the bathroom or if any particularly difficult or complicated fixtures need to be installed. As a general rule, most contractors will estimate as low as three weeks or as high as seven weeks. This depends on a few factors, including the size of the bathroom, the availability of the materials, and whether or not you’d prefer to do some of the work yourself. Unless you have a lot of experience with plumbing and building, a contractor will be able to finish any improvements significantly more quickly than you will be able to do them yourself. It is worth noting that these estimates are only for the actual construction part of the project, not the planning and design stages. It is generally a good idea to figure out your layout, design, and materials before construction starts – we can help with that part too.

How to Design Your New Bathroom

You might already know exactly how you want your bathroom to look, but it is often helpful to look for inspiration on the internet, in magazines, or even from your friends and family. If you are a little stuck on the details, we can also help you figure out how it all fits together. EJB Home Improvement’s owner, Elliot Buran, has over 30 years of experience planning improvement projects. He brings his eye for design to every project that we take on, so you know you are getting the best possible look for your bathroom or other remodel. Here are a few things you should consider when you are designing your new bathroom.

We are so happy with our new kitchen thanks to Elliott and EJB Kitchens. Excellent craftsmanship. EJB did a great job when it came to all the little details that count the most. Great pricing and very every penny!

Choose Your Colors

One of the first things you will want to do is have the colors of your bathroom picked out. Start by looking at the color schemes in the rest of your house to make sure that everything fits together nicely. If you are a little stuck, try using an online color wheel to suggest some colors that might work with what you already have in your house. It would help if you also tried getting some paint samples and applying them to spots on the wall to see how the color changes in different lighting and during other times of the day. It might sound like kind of a pain, but picking the right colors is a vital step of the remodeling process, and you will be glad you worked it all out when it has done.

Visualize the Space

When you plan out the design of your new bathroom, make sure to take the room’s actual dimensions into account. No matter how hard you try, the grandmaster bathroom of your dreams probably will not work out if you have a small space to fit it in. The size of your bathroom will dictate whether you can have a separate shower and bath or if you can squeeze in a large, custom-built vanity. Also, take note of the specific quirks of your bathroom. Are there any large windows you will have to design around? Are the walls curved or straight? Your designs should be customized to fit the space you have, not the other way around.

Think About Fixtures

The fixtures will be the essential part of the bathroom, so start thinking early about what you want to be installed. You should decide early on whether you want a combined shower and tub, or separate, or even just a shower. Consider the shower head – do you want low flow, fixed, or handheld? The finish is also essential – there’s chrome, pewter, brass, gold, stainless steel, and even more options.

The toilet is also something to consider. You might think that they are pretty much all the same, but that is becoming increasingly less true as technology advances. Today’s toilets can have interactive features, water-saving measures, and any number of comfort options. The fanciest toilets can get pretty expensive, so save room in your budget if you’d like one.

Whatever you decide on, we at EJB Home Improvement are here in service of your vision. Give us a call today if you would like to take advantage of a free estimate, and we can get you started on the path to your perfect remodeled bathroom.
